Ok, if birth control is the answer, how exactly do we get all the people in other nations (and our own) to use it? I think its a pipe dream that you think people will use birth control or casual abortion without some form of motivation/punishment. Look at seatbelts. In PA it's illegal (or theres points involved or something) to drive a car without a seatbelt on, but cops don't enforce it so people don't care, even if it would save their life. With an issue such as the birth rate, I don't think its possible to just rely on peoples good nature, intelligence, or morals to use birth control or other methods, it just won't happen.IP: Logged |

How about we find a liquid substance(not sure if there is already one) and spike some country's main water supplies so most will become infertile, while some will not?IP: Logged |

I used to actually seriously consider the making people infertile thing up until recently. For a while I had a really good scare that I might be infertile. Even though I don't want kids because I hate them it really upset me.------------------ "Breathe in right away, Nothing seems to fill this place I need this every time, Take your lies get off my case Cause I’m a loser There’s nothin left of this mind Or my soul" IP: Logged |

Brandon, I believe i did see that on chris rock. I remembered hearing it, but i didnt know where from. your probably right.Everyone - Forget abortions, birth control, and limiting the number of kids a family can have to try to cut down the population. I have a great solution. Any kid that doesnt maintain a 3.5 GPA will be taken out and shot. Give the smart kids all the oppertunities, forget the ones who wont make it in the real world. If kids wont behave, take them out back and be done with 'em. The population would go down REAL fast, and you wont have to worry about the next generations being a bunch of slackers. we will all be able to rest easy knowing we are leaving our future to very bright individuals. Think about it, with all these smart kids: the prison population would go down; the food comsumption would go down; the number of kids going to college would go down, giving the students a more personal education; and the technological advances would be astounding. I personally see no disadvantages in this at all. We might spare some of the "bigger" of the not-so-bright kids tho, to serve in our military, where they will only know how to take orders (kinda like a McJob worker, but they mess up).The world would be a better place. </sarcasm> IP: Logged |

yeah, I think that's a good idea to send the dumb kids into the military. Or, instead of testing on animals we could do medical tests on the dumb kids. <sarcasm>------------------ "Breathe in right away, Nothing seems to fill this place I need this every time, Take your lies get off my case Cause I’m a loser There’s nothin left of this mind Or my soul" IP: Logged |

you need dumb people who don't do or make much; you also need poverty and the rich and middle class in order for a capitalist economy to work. so shooting all the dumb peeps is not a solution; they are part of the reason we're doing so well right now. i realize you prolly weren't being serious, im just making a point.IP: Logged |

{S FASCISM (AOL humor). Fück maintaining a GPA. I failed 2 classes my last semester. Our school system shouldn't be a measure of life and death. They want to put the 10 commandments up in classrooms. What the hell is that. Think of the muslim kid that feels like an outsider all of his elementry education. Adding the Bible to cirruculum of public school is abosolute nonsense. If we combine that with Steve's "modest proposal" we get kids getting shot because they don't know who begat Eleazar.IP: Logged |

I would never want to find out that they are doing medical tests on humans. The thing though is that I've grown up with dogs my entire life and I can't even (nor so I want to) imagine that they do medical tests on dogs and that maybe, just maybe they could have gotten their hands on my dogs before we did and my dogs could be used for their experiments. I'm kind of a back to nature, save the environment kind of a girl so animal testing really bothers me. *This if off the point but I have a story. I used to have a gillete razor and then I found out that they test their razors on animals by cutting them with the razor and seeing if the cuts get infected so I told my Mom to never buy a Gillete product again and I threw out my razor and went and got one at the Body Shop (not tested on animals). Well, I recently ran out of razors and I asked my Mom to get me some more. So guess what she does! Yep, you guessed it. She goes out and buys me a ****load of Gillete razorblades. I swear, government employees. So, if anybody here is old enought to vote, who are you voting for President? I'm really excited about Al Gore because he just picked a Jewish guy for his VP. I'm trying to get involved in Gore's campaign as a matter of fact.------------------ "Breathe in right away, Nothing seems to fill this place I need this every time, Take your lies get off my case Cause I’m a loser There’s nothin left of this mind Or my soul" IP: Logged |

I would much rather my skin care products be tested on aborted fetal tissue than on a poor rat. </sarcasm> As far as the voting thing ... well, first off, I hate both of the major candidates. They are both lousy. Were it a normal election, I would vote third party, based solely on my dislike for both candidates (I am not a party line voter). However, this year, there stands to be as many as three supreme court appointments (which, for those of you who don't know, are much more important than the presidency, as they are life terms), which means that I will (regretfully) be voting for a mainstream candidate ... whats the big deal with testing something on an animal? if you eat beef you are eating a cow that was gutted. i saw a thing on the news where people were protesting research for breast cancer on apes, wtf is that? people cant make up their minds. "oh, boo-hoo, more money is spent on balding research than breast cancer." then at the breast cancer research facilities, "boo-hoo, you are slightly shortening the life of an ape to greatly increase the life of millions of humans...um...BUT THAT APE COULD HAVE ENJOYED SOMEMORE BANANAS OR SOMETHING!!!"

I don't know, I guess I just feel that way because of my dogs. I actually used to have a rat that was supposed to be one of the ones that people come in and buy for 2 bucks and feed to their snakes. I got it for my brother because I was too cheap to get him a nice rat and the rat turned out to be really cool. I don't eat beef. ------------------ "Breathe in right away, Nothing seems to fill this place I need this every time, Take your lies get off my case Cause I’m a loser There’s nothin left of this mind Or my soul" IP: Logged |

I am really unhappy with both candidates. I liked Gore for a long time, just because of the fact that he is aware of the ecological problems we have. Then he goes and picks Leiberman (sp?) as his VP. I'm sorry, but I ENJOY my violent video games and movies. I don't want some crusading vice president going after the Quake IIIs and Shoot-em-up movies because they are violent. I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to install a v-chip into every childs head.IP: Logged |

No offense, but I'm sick of people saying, "I'm gonna vote for Al Gore because he loves the environment!" If you love the environment so much that you choose the candidate you support by it, then you would have done enough research to see that the real candidate for the environment is Ralph Nader. I wish more people like Dave would vote third party rather than being swayed by things like supreme court judges being selected. People need to give third party candidates a chance. Ralph Nader is the best choice for the american people.IP: Logged |

And whats more, Nader's proposals are more friendly to the envrionment, while at the same time are very unobtrusive to humans. Robby says, "I wish more people like Dave would vote third party rather than being swayed by things like supreme court judges being selected." David says, Like I said earlier, in any other year, I would be voting third party (no, not Nader. Not Buchannnan either). But, if there is one thing I learned in my political systems class, it is that a supreme court nomination in 100 times more important than the presidency. If you don't like a president, you just have to sit tight for 4 or 8 years, and it's a new start. With supreme court justices, you are stuck with them until they die or retire. I'll be darned </sarcasm> If you think that Leiberman will go on cruisades, do some research on the proposed first lady (Tipper), and look at the cruisades she has launched without even holding any office. Zach said, "Of course I knew this and refered to the 3rd non-believing sect. " David says, If that is the case, I could care less if a millitant black seperatist gets his feelings hurt. i cant stand either canidate. there are two parties but they might as well be the same. im not old enough to vote, but i really hope that bush wins simply because of the republicans 'hands off' of the people. what i mean by hands off is how republicans tend to say out of your face where democrats try to control your whole life, which i cant stand. i dont want them to control what i watch, what i listen to, how many guns i have, etc. (i dont actually own a gun, just and example.)IP: Logged |

<Sarcasm> Yeah, the republicans are really hands off!</Sarcasm> What about them being pro-choice, anti-gay-marriage, pro-faith-based institutions, and pro-prayer-in-school? Neither democrats nor republicans are hands off. With the situation i would rather Gore got into office since he is smarter and pro-choice, but I don't like either of them. I don't care about gun control... I don't have a gun nor do I want one. There is no way Gore will change how Hollywood makes movies. They have too much power over him. So the way I see it for all my purposes Gore is better, but not the best. I hope more people come out and vote for Ralph Nader. He is the best candidate on the ticket, and the only one I agree with.IP: Logged |

*pro-lifeI didn't say that Gore is hugely into the environment but he is more into it than most candidates. I am a registered democrat but if I see a third candidate come along that I agree with than that's who I will vote for. At the moment though I like Al Gore and I like his VP. Trust me, I love my violent video games and nobody is going to take that away from me.

I don't know if this has been pondered yet and this sounds rather stupid of me, but I have a curious mind:I don't know if Dave has reference materials handy or if he has them lodged in his head, but he always seems to have stats or critical, little-known knowledge of topics... so, Dave, what is your IQ? (I'm not expecting a 160 or even a 132 (MENSA minimum) or anything like that. But I'm pretty sure it's above average, and I'm curious.) ------ Now, (on topic... atleast somewhat...) by adding Lieberman, don't we just add another homophobic, racist (maybe), bigoted politician to the roster? I don't know much about Lieberman, but i know he's - an Orthodox Jew (close-minded, strict), - a senator in Connecticut (CT? wealth? no such thing!), and that - all anyone (in the media) ever cared about was that he is the first Jew to run for such a position. Also, about Mrs. Tipper, for what I know, she was the leader who helped stamp the "PARENTAL ADVISORY" stickers on records (atleast on those who were members of the RIAA, another greed-fueled organization/(corporation?) and video games.
If both her and Lieberman gain a position in office, what will happen in the next four years?

Is the Mensa minimum really 132? Man, my IQ is only 130, I better go out and start listening to classical music, something to get my IQ up those 2 points. Yeah, I'm not too fond of Orthodox Jews but I'm kind of excited that he picked a Jew to be his fellow running mate. The reason I don't really like Orthodox is because most of them don't believe that Conservatives and Reformed(what I am) are real Jews. I don't know if all Orthodox feel that way though... ------------------ "Breathe in right away, Nothing seems to fill this place I need this every time, Take your lies get off my case Cause I’m a loser There’s nothin left of this mind Or my soul" IP: Logged |

My brief research on Mensa:To qualify for Mensa ("table" in Latin) you must be in the top 2% of the general population who took the test. Reason being because various tests will result in various scores. Example: You can score a 105 on one test, and a 115 on another. Therefore, you can have the same IQ as a friend, but if you take different tests, one of you will appear superior when you're both equal. Mensa has their own test, but there are many other knowledge tests. The purpose of Mensa is to create an elite, non-political "society" of intellectuals where religion, race, sex, etc. are ignored. ------------------ religion diminishes logic Chris IP: Logged |

I don't think it's as high as 132. My Dad actually qualified to be in Mensa and his IQ must be in the '40s at least. He's one of those people who are so smart they're kind of weird. Yeah, I don't think it's 132 because I remember a while back either I was told or I read that if I passed the tests my IQ is high enough for Mensa.------------------ "Breathe in right away, Nothing seems to fill this place I need this every time, Take your lies get off my case Cause I’m a loser There’s nothin left of this mind Or my soul" IP: Logged |
