AIM Chat Bust

If you are trying to get into a chat but it’s full, here’s an easy way to get in without much effort and no progs. Enter the chat, when you get the message box saying it’s full, click okay and leave the chat window open. Sign off, and sign right back on (do not switch screenames in the listbox!). Now it will keep attempting to.....

AIM 5.5 AdKill

Replace your current AimRes.dll file in C:Program FilesAIM or wherever your AIM directory files are. Make sure AIM is closed before replacing it. I suggest you backup your current AimRes.dll. The dll enclosed in the zip only has 1 thing changed and that is the part where it shows the aim ad.

AOLFOREVER nostalgia illustration for BRB Was Not a Legally Binding Statement.

Somebody would type brb on AIM and disappear for the rest of the night. No explanation. No update. Just a conversation sitting there with a promise that had absolutely no expiration date. Meanwhile you were still online three hours later. At some point brb became see you at school.
Classic AOL Instant Message From: Kittie window with small Paste and Kittie screen names, a large pink Hello reply and AOLFOREVER watermark.

Lol an AIM conversation could look like a ransom note made entirely out of middle-school confidence. Neon green letters, a black background, and a font so tiny the other person needed to lean into the monitor just to read hey. Then somebody replied in enormous pink Comic Sans and suddenly you were having a typography argument instead of a conversation. No read receipts needed. If.....
Illustration of a teenager using a shared beige family computer while a sibling waits and their mother passes with laundry, with an AOLFOREVER watermark.

The family computer lived in the busiest room in the house, so every AIM conversation came with an audience. You could minimize a window in half a second, but somehow your mom always walked by right as somebody sent something ridiculous. Then your brother needed it for homework. Funny how homework always sounded exactly like Counter-Strike. Your entire social life was now on hold because.....
90s Hackers

Johan Helsingius, also known as Julf, was the manager of the world's most famous anonymous remailer, penet.fi. He eventually shut it down in September 1996 because police claimed the Church of Scientology suffered damages due to people leaking their secrets while concealing them using Helsingius's remailing service. The service operated solely on a 486 computer and a 200-megabyte hard drive. John Draper, also known as Cap'n Crunch,.....
