Frequently Asked Questions
How long have you been programming?
Well, let’s see. I started doing HTML about 2 years ago, and have taken some breaks in between, but have kept making web sites since then. That summer, I downloaded Visual Basic 4 and started trying to make programs. That was about 1 1/2 years ago. I started out learning little stuff from websites, then i bought a book, and that’s when i started learning for real. About 1/2 a year ago or so, I decided that javascript was something very interesting to use to enhance web pages. So, i’ve been doing little javascript things since then, nothing too hardcore, but it fits my needs. Hmmm, i just got C++ Builder 4 for Christmas this year, and have been gradually learning it. I’m not exactly a great C++ programmer, but I know most of the basics, I haven’t had much time to learn lately though.
Will you teach me how to program?
Sorry, the answer is no. I really do not have the time to teach every person that asks me. And please don’t ask me to make a code for you; that’s very irritating. Most likely while I’m on the computer, I’ll be working on this site or working on a program. There are plenty of sites that will teach you, you just have to look for them.
How long have you been skateboarding? Are you any good?
I’ve been skateboarding for about 4 1/2 years now, and I am still in love with it. Skating is my favorite hobby, and it’s pretty much my whole lifestyle. I’d say I’m a pretty good skater, but it’s not really my place to say. Go to the Skateboarding section and look at the pics and videos of me, and you can judge for yourself.
What kind of music do you like, and what’s your favorite group/band?
I’ve listened to many types of music in my life, but Hip-Hop is the main type that I’ve stuck with. Back in my elementary school days, I was big on the whole gangster rap scene, but I kind of lost interest after a few years. Around the time I went to middle school, I started listening to rock music, and pretty much anything hard and loud. I got tired of that scene right before 8th grade; that’s when i got into hip-hop. What pretty much got me into it was Wu-Tang Clan. I bought their CD after I took a trip up East and heard everyone talking about Wu-Tang. I had to hear what they said was so good, and I loved it. I am still a huge Wu-Tang fan, they’re my all-time favorite group ever. Say what you want about hip-hop, but I think it’s the best type of music.
What grade are you in?
I’m a Junior in High School. School sucks by the way. I don’t think anything else compares to the boredom you feel in school. Oh well, it’s better than being stupid.
What city in Texas do you live?
I don’t like saying the exact location, because you’ve probably never heard of the city anyway. Let’s just say it’s near Dallas, that should give you an idea of where it is.
Will you host my site?
Let me put it bluntly, NO. I won’t waste my space and bandwidth so you can have a site for free, while I actually pay for my site. Sorry, that’s the way it is. I hosted some people at first, but i stopped when i was charged $100 for bandwidth overusage. So, that was the end of my generosity.
Will you put my link/banner on your site?
I will on two conditions. Firstly, you have to put my link on your site and keep it on there. Secondly, and most importantly, you site has to be good. I don’t just mean good in your opinion, but good in my opinion and everyone else’s. If your site is just like everyone elses, then I definately will not.
What is an abbot?
abbot: A title given to the superior of a community of twelve or more monks. The name is derived from abba, the Syriac form of the Hebrew word ab, and means “father”. In Syria, where it had its origin, and in Egypt, it was first employed as a title of honour and respect, and was given to any monk of venerable age or of eminent sanctity.
What’s the deal with 3000?
I came up with the idea sometime during the summer. Everyone seemed to be naming all their stuff “2000 whatever” and such, and I was tired of everyone being just like everyone else. So, I started using 3000 in my stuff to sort of make fun of the whole thing. Then I decided to get a domain and abbot.com was taken, so I ordered abbot3000.com. Now I use 3000 in pretty much everything I do, it’s my “thing”. I’ve started seeing a few people using 3000 on their page and whatever, but I’m the first that I know of that started using it as my little “calling card” as it were, heh.
